Being Sad

A Mohave girl and I spent some time together today. She didn't say anything. She was so exquisitely sad. And she showed me that sadness can be carried gently and easily. That it doesn't have to be a burden or a "cross" to bear. It can be as light as the color of your hair, and when you cradle it gently, and you treat your sorrow with love and compassion, it simply becomes a part of you, a flavor and a color that brings a certain richness and depth to who you are.
