Gag Me With A Fork

I love the title to this blog post!
And I can't think of anything to go with it...
:-(

I trolled Facebook looking for something that would qualify...
Nothing
Nada
Zilch

I watched the news
I stared mindlessly at the seemingly endless flow of
mind numbing soul sucking buy me buy now
advertising on network television.
Came up empty.

I googled it
Found a deleted You Tube video
Dictionary definitions - Boring!!
A number of twitter comments - Even More Boring!!
A strange foodie post at Jack Sh*t, Gettin' Fit
And this picture

So then I thought it might be a good idea to look inside and see if there is anything personal I'd like to say about things that annoy me to the point of  "Gag Me With A Fork"
Everything I came up with was too stupid to write about...
I kept gagging and deleting..
So..

I guess at some point a person has to give up
So this is me giving up on the idea of a clever "gag me with a fork blog post"
and sharing a picture by someone else about someone else instead.

Ok... I can't resist.
More forks..
Actually a lot of them:

Places Everyone Goes

Ok, I'm pretty sure none of us have been to Venus, Uranus, or Mars... despite these lovely travel posters - it's not as easy to get there as they would have you believe. I do however have a list of places that are easy to get to and I'm betting that you've been to every single one of them at least once in your life! Don't believe me? Read on...
  • I have been in many places, but I've rarely been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
  •  I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
  •  I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I live close so it's a short drive.
  • I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
  • I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
  • I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
  • And while I'd like to be in Fallible, I find myself in Ept and in Adequate more often than not.
  • I do, however, get quite a lot of work done when I am in Dustrious.
  • Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.
  • One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
  • And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not.
  • People keep telling me I'm in Denial but I'm positive I've never been there before!
  • I have been in Deepshit many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there. I actually kind of enjoy it there.
  • So far, I haven't been in Continent; but my travel agent says I'll be going soon.

Ok. I better stop now before I find myself in Tolerable!

The Art Of Doing Nothing Productive

Actually, the name of this post should read "The Art Of Doing Nothing Productive While Seeming To Be Productive Especially When There Are A Bunch of Actual Productive Things You Could Be Doing But Don't Want To Do So You Found This Other Seemingly Productive Activity To Occupy Your Time."

Here's how it works (for me, anyway):

I usually start off with an ambitious plan to get a bunch of things accomplished. Today, for example, the plan was as follows:
  1. Go to the grocery store, and buy groceries - since I have no food in the house.
  2. Pay my 2010 property taxes and maybe even the 2011 tax bill too. Or is it the 2009 and 2010 tax bills... I can't remember... 2 years overdue? 3 years?
  3. Call Sprint and cancel my phone service - which I have just 1 day to do before I get charged for another month.
  4. Text or call everyone who needs to know my new phone number.
  5. Clean the litter boxes - ok that one needs to wait until after the visit to the store - if it ever happens.
  6. Do something with the 2 year old christmas tree I still haven't done anything with (and no it's not a fake christmas tree - it is, howver quite dead) .
  7. Work on Gypsy Magic, Cafe Press, Mandala Madness... or some other website or blog I'm way behind on.
  8. Do the dishes and fix a nice meal with all those good groceries I theoretically just got.
So, here's what I did. I got up this morning, drank a couple of cups of coffee and then decided that it was absolutely imperative that I check my email. Now, my inbox usually has an average of 1,300 unread messages - sometimes more, sometimes less... but that's usually what it looks like. And what I do, on a normal day, is skim through it, looking for anything that seems important, interesting, or terrifying... and after I read those emails - which I might or might not reply to or do anything about - I'm totally done. And then it's on to facebook for more procrastination and bullshit.

Today, however, I told myself this story about how it would be proactive - and organized - and productive - to methodically go through all of it - discarding, sorting, answering, and freaking out (whichever was appropriate) . Three hours later... I am down to 764 unread emails and thinking of ways to avoid going to the store and doing all that other shit because now I "don't have time." Especially since it's almost noon and I have someplace I need to be at... let me see... 7:30 pm.

And now I'm having all this anxiety because I'm feeling like I'm up against the wall of "what I don't want to do that I have to do" and the more I have to do it, the less I want to... and I'm thinking that maybe my totem animal is a MULE! A stringy old balky one at that... maybe even one that bites!

So, here I am talking about pretty much nothing - as if it's actually something - when really it's just more "Doing Nothing Productive While Seeming To Be Productive Especially When There Are A Bunch of Actual Productive Things You Could Be Doing But Don't Want To Do So You Found This Other Seeminly Productive Activity To Occupy Your Time."

And of course, now, it's imperative that I do an exhaustive internet search for pictures of mules to illustrate this blog post because... well... that's just so important!

Finding Gollum

OMG! I must be a really successful ranger! I just found Gollum - and I didn't almost die, nor did I have to go hungry, or kill Orcs, or hang out in an ale house. Turns out he's alive and well, and right here, right now! Don't believe me? Here's a picture:

And... if it works... an audio clip too!

Distractions and Blog Posts!!

Here's a perfect example of how I get distracted on the internet! I started out with an intention today of putting one post on each blog, and between posts, working on cleaning house, and if there was any time left over, finishing up the flyer for beginnings. And this is what happened:

I started with Two Feathers Reiki. Put up a nice little post called "Decisions Decisons" and the proceeded to make a number of ... well ... decisions. I try to keep my images hosted only on free sites - and in my latest search for image hosting I found the My Opera site - and decided to upload the images for Two Feathers Reiki and Way Cool Pictures over there. So, I went there to upload the image for the decisions post, and somehow ended up making ... I know how crazy it sounds ... another blog.

That being done, I loaded the dishwasher and then posted a Tolstoy quote on Way Cool Quotes, and (thus far) successfully talked myself out of investigating Tolstoyism... Hurray me! Then I posted images of ridiculously flexible people on More Cool Pictures... and put a bunch of trash into trash bags. So far so good.. I then trotted over here to Shirley Twofeathers.

My intention was to post about my absolutely most favorite food in the whole wide world... and in my search for actual information about the Ice Cream Bean, I ended up watching videos on doing Reiki with Horses! Which lead to the following video which I thought was really super cool:

Oh... and wait... there's a part 2!!

I really like this guy! Probably he's mostly full of shit - but it's cool shit, and well, I like him. Here's some more, because even if you've had enough, I haven't!

This is an interview - I love what he says about self love:

And then I found his Spirit Rap which is really powerful, so I thought, hey, this belongs on Feathers and Bones! There's even a CD, which I went and found at Amazon (here's a link - Spirit Rap) and put on my wish list for that mythical time when I have actual money.

And then, while posting at Feathers and Bones, I realized that I still haven't replaced the missing graphics that came with the template for that blog, and which disappeared when the person who made the template disappeared for a time and let the image hosting lapse... so now it's on my mind to get in there and fix that.... but wait... enough Shirley enough... go ... I dunno .... wash your hands! Which I have now posted... and ... (deep breath) ... (huge sigh) ... I'm now going to do some... what was it? laundry?

I Write Like Who?

Someone suggested that I should write some bad poetry, and guess what! I already have! (You can read it here.) Then I found this nifty little website that will analyze your writing and tell you who you write like... so I had my poetry analyzed... This is what it said:

I write like
Stephen King

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Stephen King?? Yowsers! I don't even know what to think!! I wonder who I write like when I'm talking about having a not cool not fun life... hmmm... let me see... it's analysing... analysing...

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Oh hey! It says, David Foster Wallace.. whoever the heck that is... probably some not cool not fun guy. Alright, so, when I'm on a rant, (like maybe this one here) who do I write like?

I write like
James Joyce

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

James Joyce? Ok, I can dig it. That's kind of cool! Oops! Am I doing something cool??? I wonder who I write like when I think I'm actually writing fiction, for example, this story here...

I write like
Ursula K. Le Guin

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

OH WOW, Ursula LeGuin? Maybe I am pretty cool after all!

Ok... that was so much fun that I'm going to have to go sit in my dirty bathtub with all 5 of my cats, 2 of which are in heat, and I'm going to drink a half a warm beer, and think about how much fun it will be to get up in the morning after having had like... I dunno... 4 hours of sleep... and go to a funeral in a vehicle with no air conditioning on a day when it's going to be 95 degrees with 80% humidity. That'll put a surefire stop to all this fun coolness, don't you think?

Oh and by they way: If you've stumbled onto this post like, days or weeks or even months after I wrote it, you might want to read my rules for living a not cool not fun life so you'll know what I'm talking about. It's very... um... David Foster Wallace-ish!

OMG - I'm Dead!

Imagine my surprise this morning when I checked my mail only to find this Google Web Alert for: shirley gibson.

Shirley Gibson Obituary or Memoriam: Shirley Gibson's Obituary by ...
Online obituary or memoriam for Shirley Gibson. Read Shirley Gibson's life story , offer tributes/condolences, send flowers or create a Shirley Gibson online ...
legacy.com/obituaries/denverpost

And of course, now everyone will know my real name isn't Twofeathers, but it doesn't matter since I'm dead. Or, more accurately one of the living dead, and if you are even the slightest bit interested, you can read all about it here.

Posting Shit On Facebook

In case you weren't paying attention, I posted a whole bunch of silly widgets and other stuff on facebook, Gypsy Magic, and yes... here too. Suddenly it occured to me that maybe I was just fooling around and maybe I should get busy and go Christmas Shopping. But I didn't want to stop, I thought maybe... who knows... what I've been posting might actually have some value.

So I asked Tony Soprano if anyone was even going to read a single one of my facebook posts today and he had this to say:

I doubt it. -- You don't shit where you eat. And you really don't shit where I eat.

Hmmmm... have I been posting shit on facebook all morning? I decided that maybe I should ask Buffy if Tony Soprano was right. Here's what she said:

Yes, without a doubt. -- If I was any more open-minded about the choices you two make, my whole brain would fall out.

When I quit laughing so hard that I spit coffee out my nose, it occured to me to ask Tony Montana what he thought about the whole thing and he said this:

It's hard to say. -- I got ears, ya' know. I hear things.

LOL... too funny!!! I love these widgets!! Those question mark chairs are cool too!

Moving To The Beach

The other day, my mom was telling me about Port Aransas Texas. It's a place she and my dad (when he was still here) loved to visit when they wanted some rest and recreation. Ever since she told me about it, that poem by Edna St Vincent Millay about "I shall go back again to the bleak shore..." has been going round and round in my head.

So, I've been thinking... what if I just up and moved to Port Aransas? Then, today, I found this picture... it even says "rent me."

That is a cool looking house! Now all I have to do is find a job there, win the lottery, or ... I dunno ... find a lamp with a genie in it!

I figured where to find a magic lamp? Craig's list, of course! But, (sad face) I did not find a magic lamp. BUT guess what I did find! This listing for artists wanted:

We are preparing for our first annual fall festival here on Padre Island, and are looking for local art vendors to come join the fun!!!!! If you are interested in showcasing your art or talent please email back or call, 361-949-8041 X150 and ask for Jojo.. Interesting!! Padre Island can't be that far away!

And then there's this one in Corpus Christi: New business offering artist the chance to advertise and sale their work in a business facility. Feel free to call (688 0444) or stop by New Beginnings Wellness Spa

Maybe I wouldn't have to get a stupid job. Maybe I could sell my art! Like, for example... this painting:

Or this one:

And what about my family? How could I leave them? But never fear! I even found a job for my daughter: Barkaritaville Pet Resort is now accepting applications for Experienced Groomers. If you are interested in applying, please e-mail resume to Autumn Vasey at, autumnvasey@gmail.com

Not only that, I also found a job for my son-in-law: our company is looking to hire full and part time cleaning people (women or men) with EXPERIENCE in all aspects of cleaning ...especially in final construction cleaning...being able to use sizzor lifts, floor polishers, window cleaning etc... must have supervision and look neat in appearence ....please contact us at either jrad@concleangroup.com or 888-514-7842 ....please leave a tel: # so that we can get back to you..asap ....ask for john.

Ok... so the jobs and the kids are taken care of, what about a social life... let me see... maybe I can find a male companion... Oh look! Here's this:

I'm still looking for the woman that's maybe a little anti-social, and possibly an outspoken misanthrope, truly "Old Fashioned", or even an intelligent shy girl who prefers not to get caught up in the trappings of the shallow, greedy masses. Seriously people in general are stupid and mostly annoying and I don't have the patience or desire to waste my time sorting through them. Despite what it may sound like I tend to give everybody a chance to fuck up atleast once. I'm only judging society in general, of course there are decent people out there.. Ok here it goes..

I'd like you to be Agnostic, Atheists annoy me almost as much as devout Christians do. Hindu, or Buddhists are ok too if you're not just pretending. Looks aren't that important either, I don't mind a bbw or a bean pole or anything in between. There's beauty to be found in every woman if you know how to look. I like to read the book before giving my critique... I want someone real to enjoy life with, someone I know right off the bat isn't gonna burn me, and that hasn't gone retarded over some completely unimportant contrived issue, societal crutch, or lame fad. An old soul. I want a woman who would be comfortable going "ex-pat" and living on a farm in South or Central America (Costa Rica :D) with me. A woman who can carry on an intelligent conversation that isn't about how "fly" or "bangin" she is but can also shut the fuck up when we're sitting on the beach watching the sunset and be comfortable just soaking in the moment. A passionate, animal loving, deeply sensitive woman.

First of all I don't care about fitting in.. I smoke cigarettes, I drink alcohol, I enjoy everything in excess. I'm a little impulsive. I like the outdoors, one because I like being isolated, and two I enjoy our Mother Earth's company. I'm an accomplished gardener. I devour astronomy. I like semi-religious psychedelic experiences, but I don't smoke pot (as much as I used to). I love to learn, a day that's gone by without learning something is a day wasted. I'm not wealthy, I don't need to be, but I do take care of my family. That doesn't mean kids I don't have any, YET... I love to cook, I'm a BBQ wizard. I spent quite a few years working in a kitchen under a French chef when I was a kid. I've been driving a truck for the last 5 years because it affords me some independance of mind and thought. What I'd really like to do is just be completely self sufficient. That's where the farm in comes in.. I'm not a fucking "metro-sexual" I pride my self on having rough hands and sore back at the end of the day. I'm not a complainer, and yes I can reconcile that after everything I've just said. I just feel what I feel. On the outside I'm 6'1", wide shoulders, blue eyes, short brown hair that's starting to pepper a little bit, and I'm not skinny, I'm not obese but I'm definitely not skinny.. 250lbs. Yes I'm working on it. I have a few tattoos and I'd like a few more..

Ok so there should be no confusion as to who I am, or what I want. I'm very real and very serious. It's Monday and the sun is back out today. My garden got some much needed rain.

Honestly I don't expect a real reply I don't think what I want exists, at least not here in Corpus where being ignorant is synonymous with cool, but if you do reply please be honest, I do have face pics. I will not send you a picture of my junk and ask for some "nsa".

P.S. Nipple piercings are a deal breaker lol.. And seriously if your favorite music is Rap and only Rap I want nothing at all to do with you. Same goes for most C&W.. Don't get me wrong I like all types of music if it's somewhat intelligent, but I find the desire to be "Ghetto", or "Right-Wing" both equally disturbing. PostingID: 1374519691

So, what do you think? Does he look like this?

This?

Or this?

And, really, does it matter? After all, looks aren't EVERYTHING!
So, now that that's all settled, all I need is a really big truck!

Well... maybe not THAT big. Something like this might do just fine! I especially like that it comes with so many helpers!

And then... I suppose... I'd be happy! Don't you think? How do you like my happy smiling face?

And if you actually read this whole entire post... WOW! Wanna go with me?

More About Brains

While we're on the subject of brains, here's something silly. These images show the differences between the male and the female brain.

female_brain

I don't quite know what to make of it because there is NO room in my brain for "handbags" or "shopping" both of which I hate and detest. So... either my brain is defective.. or the person who thought this up is an idiot.

male_brain

The diagram of the male brain, on the other hand, was amazingly accurate.

Clueless

This pretty much sums me up today!

cluelessness

CLUELESSNESS

There are no stupid questions
But there are ALOT of inquisitive idiots

How To Pull Sheep Testicles Out With Your Teeth

Why am I uploading this video? Only Daniel knows. I don't even know because I haven't even watched it. But... on an internet search gone bad, I did find this video... so here ya go!

Ok, so it looks like the above video isn't working - but guess what? I found another one... the title of it is different, but it's the same one I think. Here it is. If you enjoy it, I'm sorry for you!!

So I asked the Oracle...

I asked the I Ching Oracle:
How can I go in to work tomorrow without hating everyone?
(present) 32. Heng - Constancy, Perserverance
Continue to the end because luck comes to the enduring who have faith in themselves.

(future) 48. Ching - The Well
Life is like a well. Poorly kept wells bring sickness. Maintain it properly and you will have satisfying water.

What does the Oracle hold for you?
http://luckyhonu.com/
Well
Well
Well
That's three holes in the ground.
Now you pretty much know everything I know about life is like a well.
I wonder, am I going to need a plumber?
Some chlorine maybe?
Algae eaters?
What?

One Can of Camo Silver Ice 24 High Gravity Lager Beer xxXxx and....

Recently my sister sent me an email that really hurt my feelings and threw me into a large funk. As a result, I've had a couple of really interesting "aha!" moments which I'd like to share with you today, however, I decided to try a can of Camo Silver Ice 24 High Gravity Lager Beer xxXxx... and yowsers! Did I get a buzz off of that!!

So, here I am not quite in my "right" mind, obsessing over the sister thing, and finding it impossible NOT to post her email on the internet. It does seem kind of mean, and petty to put it on the world wide web, and I DO have SOME sense of right and wrong, so... I'm going to post it in Russian... or maybe Norwegian... I dunno... I forgot which it is... like I said, the High Gravity Lager has given me a gravely serious buzz.

Anyway... here's the offending email, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed posting it!

There, I feel much better... don't you? Oh, and by the way, it's English to Russian to Norwegian... in case you're wondering... I just wanted to be sure that I didn't do anything too mean... like post it in English and send it to all of her friends... although I'm feeling just childish enough to do something that shitty.

And, not that I'm still angry or anything... but I posted a shitload of quotes by the Marquis de Sade at Way Cool Quotes, and here is a cool list of 111 insults, plus this by Groucho Marx, and oh wait... Golden Books that never got published, I wonder why. And just to prove that I'm as enlightened as anyone else, here are some Words to Live By.

So, I'll just call it a night with this message from Stewie.

Did this really happen?

Ok... so in three days I aged considerably!! One day I was 23 years old, and next thing you know I'm 400!! Yowsers! How does shit like that happen?? All I did was walk through this door:

impossible door

Then I took a dip in this pool:

pool of illusion

Later, I put this thingy together:

impossible instructions from hell

And then, I played chess on this chess board:

Geez! No wonder I'm tired!

Giant Penis Nebula

All this stuff about darkness and the night sky reminded me that I was going to upload a picture of the Giant Penis Nebula for my friend Bob, so he can attract a shitload of traffic to Black Holes and Astrostuff.

So, here it is:

2002-11-a-1024_wallpaper

Ok... yeah, I know it doesn't really actually look like a giant penis. As a matter of fact, it's called the Tadpole Galaxy... Which means it's not even really a nebula. So I'm striking out on all counts! All I can say is that it's been a really really long time since I've seen an actual penis up close and in person - so... that's my excuse.

On the other hand, you could maybe call it the Giant Sperm Nebula... because it does kind of look like one... doesn't it? huh? huh?

Wrong Jobs!

Well, if you read yesterday's post, you'll know I was looking at Monster.com for a job that I'd be willing to suffer for. But nothing came up! I did however (surprisingly) find a bunch of jobs. Ok, yeah, I put in a search for anything anywhere... But I was surprised at how many jobs there appear to be all across America. So, I figured it might be good to rule out some stuff. That way I wouldn't be tempted to take the WRONG job were it offered to me, like this one for example:

This, much longer list, details the jobs that I would be more than willing to suffer in order NOT to have to do them. It's a much longer list, so please bear with me. And if I'm torturing you with this excruciatingly long post, maybe you might want to take some time and think about what it is that you are trying to achieve with your suffering... how it serves you... and when the "Gods" take pity on you how cool that will be... OK?

So here goes:

  1. Plumber: We know this is true because I once went for 3 months without water in the dead of winter just so that I wouldn't have to crawl around under the trailer and fix the pipe that froze and broke. And even now, I have two faucets that haven't worked for OVER A YEAR because I don't want to fiddle around with fixing them. I'd rather suffer than do that job - it's obvious!

  2. Appliance Repair: We know this is true because I lived with out a washer and a dryer for over 6 months all because I didn't want to take the dryer apart and vacuum and clean it, and because I didn't want to replace a $60 part on the washing machine, and we all know what happened just the other day when I almost became a nudist. I totally hate appliance repair and am perfectly content to suffer and maybe even die before I have to fix another one!

  3. Car Mechanic: Well, I flat out refuse to even know anything at all about how to fix my car. I remember once, years ago, my ex husband decided that I needed to know how to check the fluid levels in our aging van. He must have showed me how to do it 10 or 15 times - I never could remember which thingy was which, and if it needed oil, I was clueless as to where to put it. I was willing to be a "helpless female" AND "stupid" AND dependent on Mike Janner's good graces... yes... I suffered!

  4. House Cleaner: I'd rather live in filth, I'd rather pay someone else, I'd almost rather move than do the deep cleaning in my house. Yes, I do periodically do it, like once a year... well... no that's not true. I'm always paying someone else to do it.. I haven't actually personally scoured my house clean for years and years. Looks like my dream of cleaning houses for money has bit the dust - literally!

  5. Dish Washer: OK... so you know it's bad when I'd rather eat cereal out of a cast iron skillet than wash a bowl to put it in... and I have a dishwasher, and it works, but I have to be totally out of clean dishes, and I mean totally, before I'll load that sucker and turn it on.

  6. Accountant: Crunching numbers - it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. All that tidy nit picky attention to detail. Bleah! I can nit pick and obsess for hours over a mosaic, or a blog page, but numbers? No way! I don't even write the amounts in my check book when I write checks. I haven't balanced my check book in more than 6 years. I have automatic deposit, online bill pay, and then I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

  7. Sales Person: I can't even sell my own art - stuff I love - much less anything else. My thought is, "If you really need it, here have it. If you can't afford it - don't buy it." when I was doing dog training classes, I was constantly doing free extra sessions with people who were struggling. I gave free advice over the phone al the time. I tried to talk people OUT of boarding training (my bread and butter). No, I'd rather be broke and over worked than sell somebody something.

  8. Stripper: Ok - NO! I don't even look at myself naked. I avoid public swimming pools like the plague because I don't want any one to see me in a bathing suit - plus, who'd even WANT to see me strip. They'd probably run screaming into the night looking for acid to wash their eyeballs out with. I'm not kidding you. I think it would be that bad! I think I'd jump at the chance to work at numbers 1 thru 7 if it meant I could avoid doing this!

So... I think I'm making good progress. I know what I want, I know what I don't want... so now what?
